Launch YC: Async: We build coding agents to do the gruntwork

"Do what's important, delegate the rest"

TL;DR:
They build coding agents to do the gruntwork. They’re already better than Cursor and Claude Code in a few ways:
  1. Mobile. They aren't just a Slack bot. They built a mobile app that’s intuitive, simple, and actually works.
  2. Parallelism. Fire and forget. Don’t stare at your monitor — work on many tasks all at once.
  3. Accurate: They run asynchronously, i.e., that means they can take more time to get things right.
  4. Secure: Don’t worry about their agents messing up your laptop, they run in the cloud.

Founded by Paul Bae & Mikkel Kim

Old friends (known each other since college) and they have both worked in tech for almost ten years now in various places (Amazon, Meta, Stripe) They are builders. They like building products that solve problems for people. But the reality is, they didn’t always get to do that. With Async, they are going to change that.

Problem

It’s easier than ever to prototype a new idea. But it still isn’t easy to scale.
Work crops up: bug fixes, papercuts, migrations. And neither you, nor your team, want to do it.

And it’s not only painful, it’s expensive to do.
Context switching is costly. Asking your engineers (or being the engineer) to work on urgent requests from Slack drains productivity and kills morale.

Solution

Async does what you don’t want to do. Just ask Async.

And once it’s done, Async will send you a PR to review.

They built their own coding agent that achieves 66% accuracy on SWE-Bench verified (#3 as of writing).

  • It indexes your entire repo to learn things like your coding style, preferred libraries, design patterns, and file structure.
  • It consists of many small agents that are specialized to a particular task, such as environment setup, execution planning, and implementation.
  • It does what engineers normally do before raising a PR: it runs build, runs lint, runs tests, and creates preview deployments from within the app.

Next steps:

  • They are going to hit #1 on SWE-Bench verified and open source their agent.
  • They are going to start QA testing your code, if you use Async, you’ll get screenshots of the changes it made
