Founded by Ali Shobeiri & Sami Sahnoune, both graduates of McGill University, the duo has known each other for nearly a decade. Previously, they worked together to build, scale, and sell YouTube Party, a Chrome extension that synchronizes YouTube video playback across devices.
Between them, they have experience in data visualization and machine learning across Apple, the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Microsoft, Splunk, and Plotly. The team has been hard at work building Vizly into a data analysis tool they would have loved to use in their previous roles.

❌ The Problem
Data has become an integral part of enterprise decision-making and yet, exploring data still requires a high degree of technical expertise. This leaves non-technical employees struggling to make sense of their data, a problem that the founders have seen firsthand.
At the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, colleagues in cybersecurity would often approach Sami with questions about their datasets, trying to make sense of the millions of data points flowing through their systems hourly. Meanwhile, at Apple, Ali’s colleagues were often interested in how the features they were developing were performing on customer devices.
Since their colleagues didn’t always understand the underlying data or have the technical expertise to query it themselves, they were often bottlenecked by the founders' ability to reply to them.
