Launch YC: Caucus – The Last Piece of Software for the American Government

"The Last Piece of Software for the American Government"

TL;DR: Caucus is building general purpose AI agents for the government, starting with Congress. Their vision is simple: a future where public servants work at the speed of thought, empowered by a system that understands their workflows, integrates with all their tools, and eliminates the friction of fragmented software.

Founded by Amir Farahani & Tyler Chen

They started Caucus after seeing the everyday chaos inside congressional offices. Despite their best efforts, staffers are buried in busywork, slowed down by tools that don’t serve them. Amir built and sold Turbo Legi, an AI platform for legislative solutions, to FiscalNote (NYSE: NOTE) before finishing undergrad. Tyler, a Yale Physics + CS student, brought technical firepower from machine learning labs, quantum computing research, and building AI voice tools for a series D startup. Amir and Tyler grew up together and have known each other their entire lives, since kindergarten and toddlerhood. Years later, Amir pitched Tyler the vision for Caucus while he was still at Yale, and they’ve been building it together ever since

No one was building the last mile of software for the people who keep the government running. So they are.

❌ The Problem

Government work is critical for the country, but across federal, state, and local agencies, it’s being slowed to a crawl by outdated software, siloed systems, and manual processes. Every day, public servants spend hours on repetitive, low-leverage tasks: retyping information across systems, routing emails between departments, tracking sentiment in spreadsheets, and responding to routine inquiries in Word docs. The tools they rely on rarely integrate. Critical data is fragmented. When someone calls about a missing VA check or a passport delay, staffers often re-enter the same information multiple times, and real help can take days or even weeks to arrive

This isn't just inefficiency. It is a failure at scale. And it’s because no software truly wraps around the way government employees work.

💡 The Solution

Caucus is the last piece of software government workers will ever need.

They are building general purpose AI agents that integrate across the tools and workflows government employees already use, starting with congressional offices. This won’t just increase government efficiency, but it will empower a more responsive government, better connecting Americans to the services and representation they deserve. Their goal is to become the last piece of software the American government will ever need.

🧠 Why Now

Government employees are under immense pressure: workloads are growing, staffing levels are stretched thin, and the demands of modern governance are becoming more dynamic and fast moving.

They are not building another CRM. They are building Cursor for government, where AI agents are the connective tissue between humans and every app they use.

❓FAQ

Who is Caucus for?
Government employees: starting with congressional offices and soon expanding across agencies, departments, and local governments.

What does it do?
Caucus embeds AI agents into every government workflow.

How is this different from existing government software?
Caucus isn’t software in the traditional sense. It’s the connective layer across all software, a general purpose agent that works with the tools you already use, at the moment you need them, without disrupting your workflow. Think: Cursor, but for the government.

What does the Congressional product do?
The Congressional product is an AI platform purpose built for House and Senate offices. It automates constituent communication and casework through website chatbots and phone based voice agents that answer policy questions, collect casework details (including signed privacy forms), and route structured summaries to staff. They are cutting down the time it takes to help constituents from over a week to minutes. A secure dashboard surfaces real-time trends and constituent sentiment. By handling repetitive tasks instantly and accurately, Caucus empowers staffers to focus on complex casework and legislative priorities, without requiring any changes to their existing workflows.

Can Caucus help with federal, state, and local governments?
Absolutely. While they are starting with congressional offices, Caucus is built to scale across agencies, federal, state, and local governments. Whether it's a city council or a federal agency, they are making it easier for government employees at all levels to serve the country more effectively.
